The Franklin County Bomb Squad was called to a Fairfield County home on Thursday after deputies said that they found a garage that had been booby-trapped.

Deputies said that they were at the house, located on Shell Beach Road near Buckeye Lake, to execute drug search warrants, when they discovered the improvised explosive device.

The bomb squad and its robots were called in and detonated the device, which looked like a grenade propped up against a door, in a nearby field.

Todd Maharg, 22, was charged with possession of a dangerous ordnance in connection with the explosive.

The investigation into why the home was booby-trapped was ongoing.

Nothing illegal was found at the home pertaining to the drug search warrant.
