Police arrested a man accused of stealing his neighbors’ belongings.
Christopher Mills is charged with receiving stolen property after police and neighbors said he stole a grill, patio furniture, a planter and other items from a number of his neighbors in the Sherman’s Estate Historic District in Mansfield.
Mansfield police executed a search warrant at 23-year-old Mills’ home on Tuesday evening. They said that six homes were targeted.
Charlotte Davis said that her home was one of the six.
“My pastor came over, and we were sitting on the front porch and getting ready for a picnic in a park, where we feed people in the square,” said Davis. “We take our grill with us, and the grill wasn’t there, and I’m like, ‘Where’s the grill?’”
Police said that Mills was not shy about hiding his patio furnishings.
Davis said that she was happy one of her neighbors followed his instincts. He followed a trail of flowers right to Mills’ home and found the stolen items.
Davis said that she was happy to have her grill back.
“I just feel like people should work for what they get, don’t steal other people’s belongings,” Davis said. “It just hurts.”
