Police were working to catch up with burglars who targeted three east side businesses.

The businesses, located near East Fifth Avenue, were burglarized in the last week.

Business owner Arif Atique wants the crooks caught. He said that he bought his drive-thru business three months ago and has been trying to make customers feel welcome.

Atique said that the crook who targeted his business knew exactly what to do. The thief avoided the security sensors to head straight to the register.

"He knew what he was doing because my register was shut, he opened with the button," Atique said. "There is only certain people who know how to work on the cash register. They know how to open it."

Atique said that the thief made off with about $300 from the register and around $500 worth of cigarettes.

"It hurt me so bad," Antique said. "It hurt me so bad."

Atique said that he would beef up his security measures to keep the thieves out and his livelihood intact.

Police took fingerprints from the scene. It was not known if the crimes were connected.
