Residents Soon Will Be Able To Text, Send Pictures To 911 Dispatchers

The Franklin County Commissioners approved upgrades to the county’s 911 system on Tuesday.

Commissioners approved $500,000 in upgrades to the dispatch center, which will allow dispatchers to accept text message 911 calls, along with images and video sent by cell phones.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said that one out of four calls to 911 received this will be made from cell phones.
