A Chillicothe corrections officer was on administrative leave after being accused of fondling a 4-year-old girl.
Roger A. Benson was arrested on Friday on a statutory rape charge.
According to the Chillicothe Gazette, the charge stemmed from an incident that occurred between February 2002 and February 2003.
The 4-year-old girl was staying at Benson's home at the time of the alleged incident, The Chillicothe Gazette reported.
Ross County Prosecutor Matt Schmidt said that prosecutors initially did not have enough evidence to bring charges, but Benson recently made statements to investigators that allowed the case to move forward.
Benson could face up to life in prison if convicted.
