Neighbors were on edge Thursday after a man posing as a worker gained a woman's trust before threatening her life and robbing her.
Delaware County deputies said that Mary Johnson, 94, was the victim of the armed home invasion.
Investigators said that a man wearing a bright orange vest claimed he was with a water company before forcing his way into her home and threatening to kill her.
Johnson's family members said that the robber told her that he had already killed a woman that same day.
"You move out here for the security of being out in the country and all of a sudden it's right next door to you," neighbor Bob Williams said. "It's something to concern yourself with."
Less than a mile away, neighbors said that they were victims of a home invasion earlier in the week. They said they were not home at the time, but came home to thousands of dollars worth of their belongings stolen.
The robber got away with about $100 in cash from Johnson's home. Investigators were searching for the armed man who robbed the woman and another who served as a getaway driver.
