The Federal Aviation Administration is inspecting a Columbus police helicopter, a day after an emergency hard landing.

That hard landing tore off the helicopter’s tail and damaged the main rotors early Thursday morning.

A federal investigator told 10TV News that the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will put out a preliminary report on the crash as soon as next week.

The full investigation could take as long as a year.
