An Ohio man died while vacationing in Florida.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Akers of Stoutsville appeared to have drowned while attempting to snorkel off jetties on the east side of Destin Pass on Thursday afternoon.
Coast Guard crews were called to the scene at about 1:15 p.m. Akers, 62, was transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
