Investigators were working to learn the cause of an early morning house fire that spread to a neighboring business.

A vacant home, located along the 900 block of Sullivant Avenue, caught fire around 2:45 a.m. The flames spread from the home to Rose Automotive.

According to investigators, the fire started on the second floor of the home and eventually spread to the roof of the shop.

Richard Collins, who owns Rose Automotive, said that he was relieved to learn that the damage to his business was minor.

"I am very glad that it didn't cause anymore damage because if it had, I probably wouldn't have been able to continue the business," Collins said. "The thing is, we do some nonprofit work for people who can't afford repairs so, we help people out. If I lost what I had, I obviously wouldn't be able to help them out."

Fire crews controlled the blaze quickly, but flames sparked again around 6 a.m. No injuries were reported.
