Fire crews were working to knock down flames at a northeast side apartment complex early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were on the scene of the blaze at the Bayberry Apartment Complex on Deewood Court, located off Cleveland Avenue, around 3:30 a.m.
The fire affected a 12-unit townhome complex. Eleven families were displaced.
The fire was contained just before 4 a.m. In all, smoke and flames damaged 12 units.
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined, but arson dogs were on the scene.
Fire crews said that it appeared the fire began in a Dumpster near the rear of the apartments or an end unit.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
One person was in police custody at the apartment complex for an unrelated marijuana grow operation that investigators said was "extensive."
