Reward Offered For Information About Forgery Case

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers announced on Sunday that it was offering up to a $2,000 reward leading to the arrest or indictment of the person responsible for using stolen checks.

According to Crime Stoppers, a woman had her purse stolen while visiting Whetstone Park in north Columbus on July 23.

The woman left her purse in her vehicle, and someone broke a window to steal it.

At least three checks were stolen from the woman’s purse.

One check was cashed at the CVS, located at 2680 N. High St., another was pending at a CVS store, located at 3100 Cleveland Ave., and one was denied at a Sunoco station at 700 East Broadway.

All three checks were written on the same day.

Surveillance video captured a man and a woman using the checks.   

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 614-645-8477 or visit the website at www.stopcrime.org before Aug. 22.

Tips also can be texted to “CRIMES,” keyword CMH.

Crime Stoppers does not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations.
