Police were have a person of interest they said could be connected to a string of church break-ins.

According to Lancaster police, eight churches reported break-ins between July 1 and July 15.

A number of credit cards were stolen from the churches and were later used at several local businesses.

A woman was captured on bank surveillance video using a stolen credit card.

Pastor Greg Voight of United Brethren Church said the community was shocked by the crimes.

"You would think that folks that aren't even church-goers would somehow think that was wrong," said Voight. "I guess I feel more compassionate for a person in a situation that would feel the need or want to steal like that."

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call Lancaster police at 740-687-6680 ext. 35.
