A motorcyclist was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after colliding with a Columbus fire truck.

According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling north on Sunbury at McCutcheon Road when it collided with a Columbus Division of Fire truck that had its lights and sirens on at about 3:30 p.m.

The fire truck was turning southbound onto Sunbury Road  at the time of the crash.

The force of the crash bent the fire truck's bumper and sent the motorcycle driver flying.

The motorcyclist, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Grant Medical Center and was expected to be OK.

According to friends and family, the motorcyclist was on a memorial ride to place flowers at the grave of another friend, who died while riding his motorcycle earlier this year.
