A Reynoldsburg man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for a texting and driving crash that killed a 16-year old boy.
Daniel Jacobs apologized to the family of Dalton Ludwig in court on Thursday.
Ludwig, 16, was with a driving instructor when he pulled onto the shoulder along Interstate 270 near U.S. Route 33, when Roberts, 56, struck the car.
Ludwig later died at Grant Medical Center. The driving instructor suffered injuries but survived the crash.
Investigators at the scene said that Jacobs originally denied that he was using his cell phone but later changed his statement.
The case is Franklin County's first texting-while-driving case.
