Hilliard Bradley High School Student Killed In Crash

A Hilliard teen was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday evening.

Hilliard Bradley High School confirmed to 10TV that the victim was sophomore David Phillips III. He was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said that the crash occurred in a field near Amity and Carter roads at about 5 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, driver Trent Andrew Burchett, 16, was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Joshua T. Jaccaud, 16, Ian T. Latorrie, 14 and Alex M. Stemple, 15, were also transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and were expected to be OK.

Chopper 10 images showed the vehicle on its hood.

Sheriff’s officials said that they believed speed was a factor in the crash.

Investigators tell 10TV News the students were on a break from band practice at the time of the crash.
