The pond at Three Creeks Metro Park will remain closed through Wednesday after nearly 1,000 fish were found dead.

According to Metro Parks spokeswoman Peg Hanley, Heron Pond, located off of Williams Road in Groveport, was tested, and it was determined the fish did not die because of an algae problem.

Hanley said that testing showed that the pond had depleted oxygen levels, caused by hot weather, which then cooled quickly.

Staff planned to remove the fish themselves. The fish were found on Friday.

The Metro Parks resource manager and park manager were talking about what to do next.
