Some people living in one east side apartment complex considered moving after learning that they were living next door to a sexual predator, who has keys to their homes.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office sent out notices to residents of the James Plaza Apartments about a sex offender living there. The offender, named Lorenzo Thomas, helps to manage the complex.

Thomas, 48, is a registered Tier II sex offender out of Nevada. He was convicted of lewdness with a child under the age of 14 in 1996.

Authorities said that there was nothing illegal about his employment. The news came as a shock to many residents, many who have children.

Many residents were angry that they were just now learning of Thomas' conviction.

"I could not believe this man has been in my apartment many times with a key saying he's going to fix this and that and he's a sexual predator," said one resident, who requested anonymity. "I have grandkids."

Thomas' wife contacted 10TV to discuss the issue. She said that the owner of the property is aware of Thomas' conviction and that her husband has no other record.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said that Thomas is registered with the county.
