Police: Man Breaks Into Hilltop Homes, Touches Residents

UPDATED: Wednesday August 1, 2012 6:08 PM

Police warned residents about a man they believe has been breaking into homes and inappropriately touching residents.

Detectives are tracking a dozen incidents dating back to December - all in the Hilltop area.

Investigators said that the so-called "creeper" is entering homes through unlocked doors and windows. The crimes typically occur between 2-10 a.m.

Detectives said that one incident involved the molestation of a 15-year-old girl in December.

Police were working to determine if the crimes are the act of one person. Investigators were not sure why the creeper or creepers chose the Hilltop area and said that he could be familiar with the area.

They said that no DNA was found at the crime scenes, but they were hoping fingerprints could lead them to a suspect.

Anyone with information about the creeping incidents is asked to contact the Columbus Division of Police Sexual Assault Tip Line at 614-645-2438.
