Residents in Licking County can have their golf carts inspected free, if they want to take them on residential streets.
The Licking County Sheriff's Office started the inspections on Monday to help people take those vehicles on neighborhood roads.
The vehicles must have headlights, taillights with brake lights, turn signals, a horn and a license plate light.
They also will have to be registered with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles before they can go on the road.
Licking County allows golf carts on roads with speed limits of 25 miles per hour or less, but that is only for county roads.
If you want to drive a golf cart in Newark or another community with a police force, they have to inspect the carts for permission in those areas.
