Police said that they believed drugs were the motive in a deadly Sunday evening shooting.
Four people were shot inside a home, located along Hamilton and 17th avenues. One of the victims, identified as Albert Thompson, died.
According to police, at least two men stormed into the home and cased it for drugs. They fled after shooting the four victims, leaving a trail of stolen marijuana behind them.
Debra Boney described a flurry of emotions after receiving a frightening phone call that her 26-year-old son was involved in a shooting.
"I was crying and thought he was one of the men that was shot," Boney said.
Police said that Boney's son, who was not identified, was driving along the road when the shooting occurred. A victim ran out and asked him for help. Boney's son stayed at the scene until paramedics arrived.
Investigators said that the home was an "operational drug house" and that a substantial amount of bagged marijuana was discovered inside.
Descriptions of the alleged gunmen were not immediately released. The conditions and identities of the three surviving victims were not immediately released.
