An estimated 1,700 democrats gathered for the state convention and dinner on Saturday.
U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown said the large turnout goes to show the grassroots effort is gaining momentum entering the 100-day stretch to election day.
"That's why I'm amazed at the number of people here today," Brown said. "Didn't pay a lot of money to be here, but they're committed to knocking on doors and doing what old fashioned politics ought to be all about."
Lilly Ledbetter, known for her fight for equal pay for women, attended the State Convention earlier in the day.
She campaigned for President Obama who she said was 'for the people.'
