More than 12 burglaries have been reported within the past three weeks in one west Chillicothe neighborhood.

Investigators were trying to determine if the crimes were connected.

Jim White said that he has been a target of robbers more than once.

“He came right through the window, right on the floor and came right up these steps,” said White, 76.

White said that he was already in bed when the stranger startled him on Father’s Day.

“This guy just walked right up the steps and I said, ‘What the hell are you doing here?’” White said. “He got down to the door, and I grabbed him.”

Then on Saturday, two masked robbers broke through his basement door.

“The bedroom door flew open and there they were – two of them, and I said, ‘Oh my God, not again!’” White said. “He said, ‘I don’t’ want you to move or nothing, just stay where you are. I do have a gun.’”

White said that the robbers got away with cash, three guns, jewelry and his TV.

Police reports name at least a dozen more burglary victims, with crooks breaking in mostly during the day, through both locked and unlocked doors and windows.

According to police, and investigation is ongoing. They would not say how many of the break-ins are connected but did say they have a number of people they were questioning.

“At one point, they could have shot me,” White said. “I still think of it every day. I  just get up and do what I have to do.”

And now that includes installing an alarm system at his home.
