Crews were working to remove a tractor-trailer that crashed into a building on Thursday morning.
According to police, the rig crashed into the Heckenhauer building, located along North Sandusky Avenue, in the Washington Square area at about 6:30 a.m.
City officials said that the driver of the tractor-trailer, who was not seriously injured in the crash, admitted to falling asleep at the wheel. No other vehicles were struck during the crash.
Officials said that no one was inside the building at the time of the crash. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
A structural engineer was called to the scene to determine how to remove the rig from the building.
It was not immediately known if the driver would face charges.
