The Fairfield County Sheriff is considering permanently extending a special drug task force.

The drug crime unit used to work only when school was out and is staffed by a combination of departments.

The sheriff originally thought the program could be extended with two more officers, costing $124,000.

A estimates show it needs three officers, which would cost $200,000.

Fairfield County Commissioners have agreed to pick up the cost for extra deputies and will likely continue to fund it despite the higher cost.Watch 10TV and refresh 10TV.com for updates.
