Three central Ohio hospitals made the cut for U.S. News & World Report's list of America's best hospitals.

Riverside Methodist Hospital was recognized for excellence in Gynecology and Grant Medical Center was given top honors in Gastroenterology and Pulmonology.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center on the Ohio State Campus was named best in 10 specialties, including cancer and cardiology.

The list ranks 148 hospitals and takes patient safety, health reputation and death rates into consideration and is assembled using data collected from more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals of varying sizes annually.

Nationwide Children's Hospital made U.S. News & World Report's Honor Roll list of the 2012-13 Best Children's Hospitals rankings.

The hospital rankings were calculated to help patients find hospitals with strong skills in the procedures and medical diagnoses that present the biggest challenges.
