While most Ohioans returned to normality after the storms struck Ohio on June 29, a man who lost his foot will always be reminded of the life-changing day.

Like dozens of others, the man, who asked that 10TV News not release his name, found himself in a scene of power lines on top of cars and trapped drivers along Hamilton Road. A fallen power line smashed through his vehicle and severed his foot.

For the past weeks, the man has been treated in an area hospital for his injuries.

“He lost his foot and his other ankle is broken,” said Linda Rexford, a Home Depot employee. “The poor gentleman is having to deal with a walker and getting up those steps with just upper body strength.”

Rexford, who works at the Home Depot on Hamilton Road right next to where the poles fell, decided to organize a group of co-workers to make arrangements at his house Monday night.

Volunteers were working to lower the platforms at his home so he does not have to struggle to get inside.

The man is expected to be released from hospital on Tuesday, said Rexford.
