A man could receive up to 131 years in prison for killing a woman and getting away with it for nearly two decades.
Richard Fugate pleaded guilty on Wednesday to all counts in connection with the 1991 murder of Nancy Leslie for whom he worked as a handy man. He had faced the death penalty prior to the plea deal.
Fugate was not arrested in connection with Leslie’s death until 2010, when he was arrested for a different crime and had to submit his DNA.
