Residents in one neighborhood were on edge after 14 suspicious fires were set in one month.
Lancaster resident Gretchen Chute said that she has had a month of restless nights.
“It’s unsettling,” Chute said. “My property alone has been set four times.”
Police said that they had identified people of interest in connection with a garage fire at Chute’s home on Sunday.
According to police, the number of fires in the area was unusual.
Law enforcement officials requested help from the state’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation to help find those responsible for the fires, which were set along Wyandotte Street and Cherokee Drive.
“I think we’re all just kind of watching the whole neighborhood periodically – on edge,” Chute said.
Chute said she did not think the fires were set by juveniles.
“It’s not kids anymore, and it’s not funny anymore,” Chute said. “And I really wish for whoever’s doing it would stop before somebody gets hurt.”
Residents said that they were taking turns staying up at night to keep watch over their properties.
