Veterinarians at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium said they may know what killed more than a dozen of their exotic birds since April.
14 Lorikeets died between April and June. A zoo veterinarian said the cause was believed to be a bacterial infection that was passed from bird to bird.
Zoo officials said the infection most likely stopped and the surviving bird were expected to be fine.
The aviary that houses the birds reopened after being closed for a short time.
The zoo's veterinarian said they may never know the exact cause of the infection.
