Another hot and humid summer day - we have already tied the previous record for high temperature (at 100 degrees) but will likely get a few degrees warmer. It feels like it's around 110 degrees when you factor in the humidity, prompting another round of Excessive Heat Warnings. We also have an Air Quality Alert in effect today. Ground-level ozone pollution could cause problems for sensitive groups including young children, the elderly and people with respiratory conditions.
We're seeing partly to mostly sunny skies but we do have a slight chance for a few storms as we head into this evening. Parts of the area (including Richland, Knox, Coshocton and Guernsey Counties) are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7pm. The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas north and east of Columbus under a Slight Risk for Severe Weather this afternoon into tonight with damaging winds and large hail being the biggest threats.
The chance for storms will continue tonight as we drop down into the mid-70s. Sunday will be partly sunny and cooler with a high of right around 90 degrees. Once again we'll have the chance for a few storms, some strong to severe. The storms are all part of a cold front that will bring cooler, more comfortable conditions for the start of the workweek.
Alerts: Excessive Heat Warning. Air Quality Alert. Severe T-Storm Warning until 7pm for Richland, Knox, Coshocton and Guernsey Counties. Slight Risk for Severe Weather this evening from Columbus north and east, tomorrow for south of Columbus.
Inconvenient Weather: Slight chance for showers/storms this afternoon into tomorrow. Stay alert! Still very hot and humid.
Planning Your Day: Have an umbrella just in case and drink lots of water! Stay inside in the air conditioning if you can!
