Sensitive groups should avoid prolonged time outside today as the region grapples with an excessive heat warning and an air quality alert.

Doppler 10 meteorologist Mike Davis said that Friday’s high temperature will climb toward 100 degrees, making it the hottest day of the year.

Friday night will be partly cloudy, muggy and warm. Davis said to expect an overnight low temperature of 76 degrees.

Expect a mostly sunny Saturday, with a sweltering high temperature of 101 degrees. There will be a slight chance for storms on Saturday evening.

Sunday will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, and a high temperature of 90 degrees.

Skies will brighten up on Monday and Tuesday with seasonable highs in the mid 80s. Much more pleasant summer weather is expected through most of next week.
