An early morning crash left 1,870 east side residents without power on Wednesday.

According to police, a woman lost control of her SUV along Falcon Bridge and Refugee Road, and struck a power pole at about 4:30 a.m.

At least three people in the vehicle, including the driver, were transported for medical attention, two with life-threatening injuries.

Lou Knight had been staying with his brother Jim after last week’s storms left him without power. He sympathized with the workers who had to repair the power pole.

“They don’t have enough to do, now they have to come out here and waste their time with something like this,” Knight said.

The identities of those involved in the crash were not immediately released. It was not known when power would be restored to the area.
