A doctor was arrested and indicted on Monday in connection with writing fraudulent prescriptions for oxycontin and oxycodone.

Walter Massie was charged with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute oxycontin and oxycodone, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Massie, 59, allegedly wrote the pain-pill prescriptions for patients, who then filled and illegally distributed the drugs back to Massie for his own personal use, distribution and sale to others, 10TV News reported.

Investigators said that Massie obtained more than 4,000 between 2005 and 2007. Massie also allegedly sold oxycontin or oxycodone for $1 per milligram in May.
