A Knox County pilot walked away uninjured after his homemade plane crashed into a pond on Friday morning.
The crash occurred along U.S. Route 36 and Huffman Road, at about 8 a.m., 10TV News reported.
Pilot Tom Whittaker said that the plane stopped working and veered away from the runway as when he attempted to land.
"I was making a practice landing approach, when I put power on to go around I lost the steering control," Whittaker said. "I closed the throttle because I didn't want to go any lower or any higher and that's where I ended up."
The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating the events leading to the crash.
