A handful of car owners at the Lake Forest Apartment Homes complex woke up to costly damage on Wednesday.

More than six residents, as well as one Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, found their tires slashed early Wednesday morning, 10TV’s Shayla Reaves reported. The trooper’s vehicle was targeted twice in two days.

“I just bought new tires,” said William Wilkins, who said that his car was one targeted by vandals. “It’s just amazing how much a car can cost you, and you’ve got people who do stuff like this.”

Neighbors said that about 20 cars have been struck by vandals since Sunday, Reaves reported.

Terri Browning said that she also was a victim.

“I’m off work, because I had back surgery,” Browning said. “I really didn’t have money to buy the tires, so my daughter had to buy them for me.”

Resident Charlie Williams called the incidents “ridiculous.”

“It’s pretty ridiculous that somebody in our own neighborhood has thought it funny to walk around and stab people’s tires,” Williams said.

The property manager for the apartment complex did not immediately return 10TV News’ phone calls.

Neighbors said that they planned to keep a closer eye on each other’s vehicles.
