The Upper Arlington City School District sold its operations facility at auction this week, 10TV News reported on Wednesday.
The district agreed to sell its facility, located at 925 Burrell Ave., for $1.4 million.
District officials said that the building was in need of costly repairs, forcing the district to look for other options.
Franklin County records showed that the facility was built in 1952 and was purchased by the district in 1996 for $650,000.
According to Superintendant Jeffrey Weaver, the building’s location was desirable for developers at the Grandview Yard.
The money generated from the sale will enable the district to cover the $1.2 million needed to buy a new facility at 2050 Builders Place, off Trabue Road, Weaver said.
The Builders Place facility was built in 1990 and is about 5 acres larger than the current facility, 10TV News reported.
