The YWCA Family Center said Tuesday it is in need of donations to help homeless Central Ohio families.

The center, located at 900 Harvey Court, is housing 75 families. It has capacity for only 50.

Community Relations and Volunteer Manager Jessica Wichtman-Will said the center is in need of toiletries, baby products and clothing.

"When families come into our program, many times they come with only what they're wearing that day. And so to be able to provide them with the items that they need, like toiletries, is really important." Said Wichtman-Will.

The Family Center has assisted 40 percent more families this year compared to 2011.

The Family Center provides emergency shelter and critical services to help homeless families.

YWCA collects monetary donations to keep the center running as well as donations on its critical need list.
