A woman faced charges Monday after allegedly attempting to steal more than $700 in merchandise.

Police said that Sarah Estep attempted to hide the $731 in electronics from a Walmart store, located at 929 E. State Street on Friday.

When store security attempted to take her into custody, Estep took her sweatshirt off and ran through the store topless, police said.

Officers tracked her down in the store’s parking lot and took her into custody. Estep was charged with theft, petty theft and obstructing official business.

Police said that Estep had a warrant for her arrest at the time of the incident.
