A group gathered in downtown Columbus Thursday afternoon to encourage drivers to dump the pump.
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is in its seventh year of helping drivers find alternative forms of transportation, 10TV News reported.
The Dump the Pump campaign asks residents to use bikes, walk or take the bus for five days between Thursday and the end of October.
The organization encourages drivers to pick a week and not drive alone. Drivers can carpool, bike, walk or talk alternative transportation, MORPC officials said.
The idea behind the campaign is to help protect the environment.
Those wishing to participate have until midnight June 21 to register.
