A 4-year-old’s legacy lived on Thursday when an organization founded in her name raised money for cancer research.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation sold lemonade at Columbus Toys R Us stores to raise money for the foundation, which was founded in memory of Alex Scott.

“We’ve raised $50 million, and we’ve funded 200 projects in the United States,” volunteer Karen Griser said. “We’d just love to find an end to pediatric cancer.”

Alex’s Lemonade Stand was founded in 2000 by Scott, who passed away in 2004. Her family continued her fundraising.

Volunteers planned to be at the Rita’s Italian Ice, located at 50 S. Liberty St., in Powell on Friday.
