Police on Wednesday were searching for two people accused of attempting to abduct two teenagers.
The two said that the couple would not leave them alone near a Target store, located off of U.S. Route 33 in Lancaster.
“I’m walking behind the mall, and this silver car went up to me and the man and woman kept on asking us to get in the car - and then they drove away, but we started to get really scared,” said 14-year-old Athena Lane. Lane called 911 while the couple was trying to force them into their car.
Lane said she was walking with her friend, Isaac Staat, when they were approached on Thursday last week.
“I’m OK other than a few panic attacks,” Lane said. “I’m really good , back to my old self.”
The teenager said that she could not believe that someone tried to kidnap her and her friend.
“I was mad but also upset and scared at the same time,” Lane said.
Staat, 14, said that the couple in the car, described as a silver four-door, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria or Chrysler, asked them to get inside the car about four or five times.
“We kept on saying, “No, No!” Lane said. “Right at the moment I got the police on the phone, they said, ‘Get in the ‘f-ing’ car’ - and they turned around and started going really fast.”
Lane said that the couple had “weird” looks on their faces and laughed.
“I think they may have been on something, bath salts maybe, but something was wrong with them,” Lane said.
Police continue to search for the couple, whose car was captured on Target surveillance cameras.
