Franklin County health officials took steps Wednesday night to prevent the spread of West Nile Virus.
Crews sprayed to kill mosquitoes in Clinton Township, Urbancrest and Reynoldsburg after test pools tested positive for the virus, 10TV News reported.
Franklin County Health Commissioner Susan Tilgner said the county is used to protecting against West Nile but not this early in the year.
"Usually by the end of the season, which is sometime in September, we've seen it all over the county," said Tilgner. "What is unusual this year is it's a little bit early."
Tilgner said she suspects the mild winter is responsible for the difference.
