Police said Tuesday that they would be increasing patrols at a park this summer.

Blendon Township police said that vandals have targeted Ridgewood Park, located off Buenos Aires Boulevard near Interstate 270 and state Route 161, throughout the year.

It was after the most recent case, on June 5, when vandals tagged the park with offensive graffiti that police decided enough was enough, 10TV’s Angela An reported.

“(The graffiti) does cause alarm to the community and it is a lot of work for us to get it covered up right away,” Blendon Township Police Department Lt. Dusty Lephart said.

Police are now stepping up patrols on foot and by cruiser, An reported.

“We have to increase our patrols down here, it takes away from things we should be doing but, we’ll make sure we catch them,” Lephart said.

Investigators said that they usually see a slight uptick in juvenile crime during the summer months.
