Police said that two men were caught stealing metal from a church on Tuesday morning.

Police said that watchful neighbors helped officers take down the would-be thieves, who were targeting metal at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, located at 5200 Sullivant Ave., at about 3 a.m.

According to investigators, the men were believed to be targeting downspouts or an air conditioning unit at the west side building. Neighbors awoke to the sound and contacted police, 10TV News reported.
