A dozen people were arrested in connection with trying to smuggle cocaine and marijuana into Ohio, 10TV News reported on Tuesday.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said that the people tried to bring the drugs from Ontario, Calif., into Ohio in hollowed engine blocks.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that the drug ring shipped more than 200 pounds of cocaine to Ohio inside the engine blocks.
A SWAT team arrested one person in connection with the alleged drug operation recently. Two officers were shot at as they raided the home to make the arrest.
“He’s very lucky, as you can see,” said Inspector Bill Holland of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. “(He) fired around the corner and a couple of inches lower and it would have been a lot worse scenario.”
Neighbor Christina Greathouse said that she was terrified.
“That scares the mess out of me,” Greathouse said. “That really does. It makes me want to pack up and leave.”
