Police continued to search Monday morning for the person who attempted to run over an officer.

According to investigators, Nelsonville police received a report that two people with a green truck were seen stealing from the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway at about 9 p.m. on Sunday.

When officers arrived, one of the people got into a 1990’s light green Dodge Dakota with a brown checkmark design and backed away from the officer at a high rate of speed, investigators said.

Ignoring the officer’s command to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly revved the engine and squealed its tires as it drove toward the officer. When the officer began to fire at the tires of the vehicle, the driver took a sharp turn and sped away, police said.

Police chased the second person on the scene into a nearby wooded area. Investigators were continuing to search for the two people.

Descriptions of the people police were searching for were not immediately released.
