An off-duty Delaware County Sheriff’s detective was killed in a single-vehicle crash while vacationing with family in California, 10TV News reported on Friday.

Detective Dan Otto, 38, was assigned to the sheriff’s detective division, where he handled major crimes.

“Detective Otto was an excellent investigator who never gave up on a case,” Delaware County Sheriff Russell Martin said. “Dan was that go-to investigator.”
