The sentencing phase began Thursday for a convicted killer who could face the death penalty.

On Tuesday, a Hocking County jury found William Inman II guilty on all counts, including aggravated murder, in connection with the March 2011 slaying of his estranged wife, Summer Inman.

Her body was found strangled and dumped in an underground septic tank behind an Athens County church, 10TV's Danielle Elias reported.

William Inman II's parents are also charged in her death.

On Thursday, a forensic psychologist spent time explaining the abusive and irregular family dynamics of the Inman family, and how it affected Inman in the long run.

"He never became his own person, he never became his own thinker, he never had his own plans," forensic psychologist Bob Stinson said. "He just followed along because he had a controlling father and as long as he did what his dad did, things were fine."

Stinson said that Inman's mother would not "rock the boat" and that his father "never had to grow up."

In addition to defense testimony, jurors re-examined evidence. Inman's parents will be tried separately this summer.
