Deputies were searching for a man accused of stealing scrap metal from a home in Bremen, 10TV News reported on Thursday.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Roy Kimmey and Matthew Willison were arrested after a homeowner pulled a shotgun on the men to detain them.

The homeowner shot the radiator on the men’s vehicle, a move the sheriff’s office said was not advisable.

Deputies were searching for Zach Dye in connection with the alleged scrap metal theft. They said he jumped in the vehicle and drove off, 10TV News reported.

“We certainly encourage them to call the sheriff’s office and not use weapons or anything like that to detain individual, for their safely as well as for the individuals,” said Lt. Tim Voris of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
