A man was hospitalized after he told hospital workers he was severely beaten early Thursday.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, walked into Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s emergency room at about 5 a.m., 10TV News reported.

Investigators said that the man’s injuries were so severe that he had trouble speaking. The victim told police that he lives in German Village but was attacked near Schrock Road on the north side.

Medics transported the man to Grant Medical Center a short time later, 10TV News reported. The events leading to the assault were under investigation.
